Oxstalls 1 is now waitlist only. The Saturday was very oversubscribed, so the 90 class has been moved to the Sunday. A few entries have been waitlisted but the majority have been accepted.

Schooling is closed for the Mini international tetrathlon . It will reopen as normal on the 2nd July with the normal schooling fields,.

The baby field has some lovely new fences. The go kart tyres are back, watch out for the carrot, pencil, and spotty dogs. Pictures of most of the fences are in the gallery. We also have all our 70cm fences out and about.

What a great weekend at Little Gatcombe

What a great weekend celebrating the return of BE to Little Gatcombe. The ground rode beautifully. The riders were delighted to get back in the woods, and make the most of the undulating terrain at Little Gatcombe. Beautiful views, amazing volunteers, super tasty food, and lots of great riders enjoying the sunshine. What more could we ask for.

What a treat

What an amazing event. As always the first huge thank you must go to our amazing volunteers and contractors. Awesome as always. The competitors rode beautifully, enjoying the tracks, good going, and amazing prices, We were excited to have aerochill rugs, beautiful Lemieux boots, bandages, champagne etc as well as the all important box of treats for the equine stars of the show.

The flagged courses will remain in place until Friday midday. Then we will move all the jumps to fresh ground, ready for normal schooling.

Until next year. Can't believe our events at Oxstalls are all done and dusted. Roll on Little Gatcombe.

The schooling is currently closed to prepare for the event this weekend. The flagged courses will then remain up until Friday 9th June. Following this the normal schooling fields will resume

Adverse Weather Cover as Standard across our events....

As last year, we have adverse weather cover for all our events, n 2023, be they British Eventing or Unaffiliated, at Oxstalls and Little Gatcombe. We have the same cover across the board.

The ground at Oxstalls and Little Gatcombe is free draining and we will do our best to run whatever the weather brings. We were devastated to lose the first day at Oxstalls n April, but delighted to run the other two days due to the quick drying ground. The ground held up well, and has recovered beautifully.

Oxstalls 1 Saturday Update - All the documents are with the underwriters. As soon as we have the ok from them, refunds will be processed by BE and returned to the card you entered on.

We would love to be open at the moment as it is an important time in the season for everyones event preparation. However as can be seen with so many event cancellations, the ground is very wet. We have to close because.

No one ones big holes in front of the fences, especially when they get filled with water.
No one wants ti school in muddy conditions.
Young horses are better if their first introduction to schooling is on good going.
Overuse the ground when it is wet and pay for it when it dries. No one wants rutted / bare ground when it dries up.
We continuously monitor the ground, and as with the other local schooling venues, close when we have to.

We are so excited to be running British eventing events at Gatcombe once again. We are super excited to announce that we will be running 80 .90.100 classes this year, giving the opportunity for grassroots competitors to compete at this prestigious site.

We are well into the preparation for our first event. We have a whole course of new 105 fences which will then go into the schooling fields. We also have some great new permanent fences, including walls with a difference, some great new ditch / brushes, as well as the water. We can't wait to welcome everybody!

Tom McEwen is a regular visitor to Oxstalls with his extensive string of horses. We love having camps. The traditional Pony Club week at the end of July is booking up fast.

Camps are based in their own field with dressage arenas as required. Slots on the XC are usually exclusive, as dictated by numbers. Show jumping is also available, and areas for stable management can be provided.

We have some exciting new developments for the schooling and cross country courses in 2022

Watch this space for the big reveal of some exciting new features for 2022. We add new jumps yearly to keep the schooling fields fresh. With 3 Olympics between them, Charles built at the Bejing Olympics, and his father Mike Etherington - Smith designed at both Sydney and Bejing Olypmics. Look out for a huge selection of combinations, tricky lines, and a whole host of banks and features to prepare your horse for his first event, to 5 star.

GATCOMBE UNAFFILIATED ODE 11th and 12th September 2021

We are thrilled to announce that we will be organising the inaugural championship of the Cotswold Cup at the prestigious venue of Gatcombe Park estate, which is just down the road from us at Oxstalls Farm.

The final, the culmination of seven qualifiers in the Cotswold area, including here at Oxstalls (on May 28-30 and July 3-4), will be part of a weekend of unafilliated eventing, September 11-12, held by kind permission of HRH The Princess Royal on the site of her former spring and autumn 'Little' Gatcombe horse trials.

"I am delighted that there will be horse trials over this part of the estate again, and especially to support this enterprising new grass-roots competition," The Princess said. "I hope competitors will be inspired by the setting and that it will give them something fun and challenging to aim at as sport gets going again after lockdown."

The Cotswold Cup — "the unaffiliated series worth winning" — is the brainchild of a group of Cotswold landowners and carries a £10,000 prize pot for the final plus a training bursary scheme with leading Cotswold-based riders Harry Meade, Laura Collett and Tom McEwen.
